Bronberg German Shepherd Dog
kennel is owned by Cheryl and Liezl Pretorius. It is a small kennel having on average 1 to 2 litters per year, we concentrate on quality and, above all else, the correct temperament giving a balance between working and companion dogs.
We’ve been involved in the GSD world since 2003 and have successfully shown and bred a number of German Shepherd Dogs. Liezl obtained her BSc degree majoring in Zoology and Genetics in 2008 and obtained a diploma in Animal Behaviour in 2015 which she passed with distinction. Liezl was invited to become a learner breed judge in 2017. She completed the theory examination and is currently busy with the judging practicals. Once this is completed she will be one of only 2 breed judges in KZN. All our breeding decisions and choice of mating partners for our females are thus based on a sound understanding of genetics and construction of the GSD.
Our kennel is registered with the German Shepherd Dog Federation of South Africa and adheres to all the breed standards that this registering authority insists on.
In 2015 Bronberg Kennel obtained a bronze and in 2017 a silver’s breeders’ medal – a mean fete for a relatively young kennel. The kennel was also placed in the Top 20 show kennels for 2017.
The key to a good German Shepherd Dog is the critical first eight weeks. In this stage the puppies need a lot of love and personal attention. Our puppies get reared in the house, where they also interact with children, so that when they go to their new home they are well adapted family pets.
We aim to produce a healthy, good-looking family protector of the highest standard.
